The first biofuels corridor along a major US Interstate was announced in October 2008. I-65, the major interstate joining Gary, Indiana to Mobile, Alabama now has sufficient numbers of both B20 biodiesel and E85 ethanol stations to ensure that drivers are never more than a tankful away from the next biofuel refilling station. Major cities along the route include Gary, IN, Lafayette, IN, Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, IN, Jeffersonville, IN, Louisville, KY, Nashville, TN, Athens, AL, Cullman, AL, Birmingham, AL, Montgomery, AL, and Mobile, AL.
The US Department of Energy provided the funding to all four of the individual states along the interstate.
